Dictamnus (Burning Bush)

Dictamnus, also known as Gas Plant or Burning Bush, is a striking perennial that brings elegance and fragrance to early summer gardens. It produces tall spires of star shaped flowers in soft pink or pure white, each bloom marked with delicate veins that give the plant a refined, almost old world look. The foliage is glossy and aromatic, adding interest even after the flowers fade.  This plant thrives in sunny, well drained spots and is very long lived once established. It is slow to settle in but rewards patience with years of dependable growth and beautiful blooms. On warm days the plant releases scented oils that can sometimes ignite briefly when touched with a flame, which is how it earned its unusual nickname.  Dictamnus is perfect for sunny borders, cottage gardens, and areas where a timeless, classic perennial can shine for many seasons.
