Hymenocallis (Peruvian Daffodil)

Hymenocallis, commonly known as Peruvian Daffodils or Spider Lilies, produce elegant white, green, or yellow blooms with six long, curved petals that arch gracefully away from the center. Their unique shape and the way the flowers cluster above rosettes of strap-like leaves give them their fitting nickname, they really do look like delicate spiders in bloom. These exotic bulbs thrive in rich, well-drained soil and full sun, enjoying warmth and a bit of humidity. In cooler regions, they’re best grown in pots that can be moved indoors during cold weather, or in a sunny, protected spot outdoors. Reaching about 12 to 24 inches tall, Hymenocallis bring a touch of tropical beauty and a lovely fragrance to any garden or collection. Often called the 'Peruvian Daffodil', they are actually close relatives of the Amaryllis, elegant, unusual, and truly captivating.
