Description
Dahlia ‘Kas Cloud’ produces large, airy blooms that can easily reach true dinnerplate size, often around 8 inches or more across. Despite that scale, it never feels heavy. The petals open in a soft, clean white, but as the flower develops, a gentle blush can appear toward the center, sometimes carrying a hint of shell pink through the inner layers. The overall effect is light and cloud-like, which is exactly where the name comes from. Some blooms stay almost pure white, others show more warmth, so the plant always has a bit of variation. The flowers are fully double with broad, slightly curved petals, but the form stays loose rather than tightly packed. That gives the blooms movement and keeps them from feeling dense, even at their size. Plants grow to about 40 to 48 inches tall and produce sturdy stems, though staking early is important to support the large flowers as they develop.
In the garden, ‘Kas Cloud’ works as a soft focal point. It has the size to stand on its own, but the color keeps it from overpowering surrounding plants. It pairs naturally with blush pinks, soft apricots, creams, and even deeper tones where it can provide contrast. It’s especially effective in more romantic, layered plantings.
For cutting, this is a standout variety. The large blooms bring instant volume to arrangements, and the pale color makes them easy to combine with almost anything. One or two stems can anchor a bouquet without making it feel crowded.
Plant tubers in spring after the last frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil and give plants enough room to grow. Regular cutting encourages more blooms through the season. In colder parts of the United States, lift tubers after frost and store them dry over winter.
If you want a dahlia with impressive size but a softer presence, Dahlia ‘Kas Cloud’ brings both without feeling overwhelming.
