Description
Convallaria majalis 'Prolificans' is a unique and charming cultivar of the classic Lily of the Valley. It shares many of the beloved characteristics of traditional Convallaria majalis, including the signature sweet fragrance and dainty, bell-shaped white flowers. However, ‘Prolificans’ stands out with more densely packed blooms, creating a fuller and more impressive floral display during its late spring bloom period. This perennial thrives in shaded or partially shaded areas and is ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or as a ground cover under trees. It is hardy in USDA zones 3 to 7 and flourishes in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Once established, ‘Prolificans’ spreads steadily to form a lush, dense carpet of foliage and flowers. With its lovely fragrance and elegant appearance, Convallaria majalis 'Prolificans' adds a touch of classic charm to any shaded garden space. Gardeners should be mindful, however, that all parts of this plant are toxic if ingested, so it is best kept away from areas frequented by pets or small children.
