Description

Dahlia ‘Hollyhill Spiderwoman’ looks like it’s in motion even when it’s completely still. The petals are long, narrow, and slightly twisted, stretching outward in all directions to create that loose, spidery form. Nothing about it is tight or symmetrical. That’s what makes it so striking. The color runs in vivid tones of magenta and deep pink, often with lighter streaks or subtle variation through the petals, which adds even more movement to the bloom. It’s not a neat flower. It’s expressive. The blooms are medium sized, usually around four to five inches across, but the shape makes them appear larger. Plants grow to about 36 to 44 inches tall and produce long, slender stems that carry the flowers clearly above the foliage. It blooms steadily from midsummer into fall, especially if you keep cutting.
In the garden, ‘Hollyhill Spiderwoman’ brings a completely different texture compared to round or full dahlias. It works well mixed into borders where you want to break up heavier shapes, or planted in groups for a more dramatic, almost wild effect. It pairs nicely with softer pinks, purples, and even lighter whites where the form can stand out.
For cutting, this is not your typical filler or focal. It’s a shape flower. It adds movement, line, and a more natural feel to arrangements. A few stems can change the entire look of a bouquet.  Plant tubers in spring after the last frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose full sun and well-drained soil, and give plants enough space to branch out. Light staking is recommended, especially in exposed areas, to keep stems upright as they grow.
If you’re looking for something less traditional and a bit more dynamic, Dahlia ‘Hollyhill Spiderwoman’ brings that loose, expressive look that most dahlias simply don’t have.

          - Set the bulbs or bare root in place, pointed side or sprout side upward.

          - Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
