Description

Dahlia ‘Destiny’s Teacher’ is not about size or fullness. It’s about detail and contrast. The flowers are open and star-shaped, with long, narrow petals that twist slightly as they extend outward. The base color is crisp white, but each petal is streaked and splashed with deep wine-red markings, sometimes fine and speckled, sometimes bold and irregular. At the center sits a bright golden eye that draws in pollinators and adds a sharp point of contrast. Every bloom looks a little different, which is part of the charm. This is a lighter, more airy type of dahlia, often grouped with orchid or star dahlias. The flowers are smaller, usually around three to four inches across, but they appear in large numbers and keep coming all season. Plants grow to about 40 to 50 inches tall, with a more natural, branching habit that fits easily into mixed plantings.
In the garden, ‘Destiny’s Teacher’ brings movement and a more relaxed feel. It works especially well in informal borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator plantings where structure is less important than flow. The open centers attract bees and beneficial insects, making it as useful as it is ornamental.
For cutting, it plays a different role than larger dahlias. It’s not the main flower, but it adds lightness, contrast, and detail to arrangements. The long stems and unique coloring make it a great mixer with fuller blooms.  Plant tubers in spring after the last frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil and allow enough space for the plant to branch out. Staking is usually helpful, especially in exposed areas, to keep the taller stems upright. In colder parts of the United States, lift tubers after frost and store them dry over winter.
If you’re looking for something less formal and a bit more expressive, Dahlia ‘Destiny’s Teacher’ brings a different kind of energy to the garden.

          - Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
