Description

Dahlia ‘Fairway Pilot’ has that soft, luminous look that stops you mid-step in the garden. The blooms open in gentle layers of blush pink, with a warm, buttery yellow glow near the center that gives each flower a subtle depth. As the petals mature, the tones shift slightly, sometimes showing hints of peach or shell pink depending on the light. It feels calm, balanced, and incredibly refined. The flowers are medium to large, usually around five to six inches across, with a classic decorative form that looks full without being heavy. Stems are long and sturdy, making this a natural choice for cutting. Plants typically reach about 36 to 40 inches tall and keep producing blooms steadily from midsummer right through fall if you keep cutting.
In the garden, ‘Fairway Pilot’ blends beautifully into softer planting schemes. It pairs effortlessly with whites, lavenders, dusty blues, and deeper rose tones. It also works well as a contrast against darker dahlias, where its light petals seem to glow even more.
For arrangements, this is one of those varieties florists quietly rely on. The color is easy to work with, the form is clean, and the stems hold up well in a vase.  Plant tubers in spring after the danger of frost has passed, in full sun and well-drained soil. Give plants space to develop and stake early to support the long stems. In colder regions, lift and store tubers after the first frost for the following season.
If you’re after a dahlia that brings softness, light, and a bit of elegance without trying too hard, Dahlia ‘Fairway Pilot’ delivers every time.
