Description

Dahlia ‘Fashion Monger’ has that wild, painterly look that feels a little different from the usual dahlias. Each bloom opens with creamy white petals splashed and streaked in rich raspberry red, almost like brushstrokes across the surface. No two flowers come out exactly the same, which is part of the charm. At the center, a ring of soft, pale yellow petaloids sits around a golden disc, giving it that classic collarette form. It adds texture and movement, and it also makes the flowers especially attractive to bees and pollinators. The blooms are medium sized, usually around three to four inches across, held on slender, upright stems. Plants stay a bit more relaxed and airy than the big decorative types, typically reaching about 30 to 36 inches tall. It has a lighter presence in the garden, perfect for mixing into borders rather than dominating them.
Dahlia ‘Fashion Monger’ works beautifully in naturalistic plantings, cottage gardens, and looser color schemes. It pairs easily with grasses, whites, soft yellows, and even deeper reds.
In a cutting garden, it brings something a little more playful and unexpected to arrangements.
Plant tubers in spring once frost risk has passed, in full sun and well-drained soil. This variety benefits from light staking, especially in windier spots. Keep cutting flowers regularly and it will keep producing right through the season.
If you’re looking for something with personality, movement, and a bit of artistic flair, Dahlia ‘Fashion Monger’ is one you won’t overlook once it starts blooming.
