Description
Huge, bold, and impossible to ignore, Dahlia ‘Frost Nip’ produces massive blooms that can easily reach 8 to 10 inches across. This is the kind of flower that stops people in their tracks. One bloom can fill your hand, and a few stems will completely carry an arrangement. The petals are long and slightly pointed, layered in a loose, dramatic form that gives the flower movement and depth. Color shifts across the bloom in soft but striking tones, with creamy whites and blush pinks touched by deeper rosy accents. In certain light, the edges can look almost frosted, which is exactly where the name comes from. Despite the size, the plant holds these blooms well on sturdy stems, usually growing around 40 to 48 inches tall. It has a strong, upright habit, but like most dinnerplate dahlias, it benefits from proper staking early on to support those oversized flowers.
Dahlia ‘Frost Nip’ shines in the back of borders, cutting gardens, or anywhere you want real impact. It pairs beautifully with softer pastels for a romantic look, but it can also stand on its own as a statement plant. In bouquets, just a single bloom can anchor the entire arrangement.
Plant tubers in spring after the last frost in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Give it space to grow and consistent watering through the season. Regular cutting encourages more blooms, and the plant will keep producing right into fall.
If you want size, presence, and that classic show dahlia look, Dahlia ‘Frost Nip’ delivers in a big way.
