Description

Dahlia ‘Happy Butterfly’ is all about movement, color, and pollinators. The open blooms show off a bright, golden center surrounded by soft, airy petals in warm shades of peach, apricot, and pink. The colors shift slightly as the flowers mature, giving the plant a lively, ever-changing look.  This is a decorative waterlily dahlia, so the structure stays light and natural rather than full and heavy. That open center is exactly what bees and butterflies are after, and once it starts blooming, you will notice the activity right away. Flowers are typically around three to four inches across, carried on tall, slender stems that sway easily in the breeze. Plants can reach about 36 to 48 inches tall and branch freely, producing a steady stream of blooms from midsummer into fall. Dahlia ‘Happy Butterfly’ fits perfectly into looser plantings. It works well in cottage gardens, wildflower-style borders, and mixed beds where you want a softer, more relaxed feel. It also pairs beautifully with grasses and perennials, where its open form adds contrast to denser flowers. While it is not grown for formal cutting like the ball or decorative types, it still makes charming, natural-looking bouquets, especially when mixed with other garden flowers. Plant tubers in spring after frost danger has passed, in full sun and well-drained soil. This variety usually does not need heavy staking, but some light support can help in windy spots. Keep deadheading or cutting to encourage more blooms. If you want a dahlia that feels easy, cheerful, and full of life, Dahlia ‘Happy Butterfly’ lives up to its name.

          Planting information

          - Dig a hole to the required depth. You can find this required depth for each type of bulb, tuber or root in the growing guides.

          - Depth is measurement of space between the soil line and top of bulb or bare root.

          - Set the bulbs or bare root in place, pointed side or sprout side upward.

          - Cover the bulbs by replacing the soil and water thoroughly.
