Description
Dahlia ‘Impression Famoso’ has that open, lively look that makes a planting feel more relaxed and full of movement. This variety belongs to the collarette dahlia group, which gives it a very distinct flower form. Each bloom has a single row of bright pink outer petals, and just inside that sits a delicate collar of shorter, lighter petaloids surrounding a warm golden center. That layered effect adds texture without making the flower feel heavy. The color is clear and fresh. A strong pink on the outer petals, softened slightly by the lighter inner collar, with a yellow center that brings everything together. It’s a combination that draws the eye but still blends easily with other plants. Flowers are usually around three to four inches across and appear in abundance on well-branched plants. Dahlia ‘Impression Famoso’ stays relatively compact, typically growing to about 20 to 28 inches tall, which makes it especially useful toward the front of borders or in containers.
In the garden, this is a very easy dahlia to work with. It fits naturally into cottage-style plantings, mixed borders, and pollinator-friendly spaces. The open center attracts bees and other beneficial insects, adding even more life to the garden. It pairs well with whites, soft yellows, and other pink tones, but it can also brighten darker plantings.
For cutting, it brings a lighter, more natural feel to arrangements. It is not a heavy focal flower, but it adds color, contrast, and a bit of movement when mixed with fuller blooms. Plant tubers in spring after the last frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil and allow space for the plant to branch. It generally does not require heavy staking, though a bit of support can help in windy spots. In colder parts of the United States, lift tubers after frost and store them dry over winter.
If you’re looking for a dahlia that feels easy, bright, and full of life, Dahlia ‘Impression Famoso’ is a natural fit.
