Description
Dahlia ‘Orange Fubuki’ is one of those varieties that immediately catches the light and holds it. The blooms are bright, warm, and full of energy, with a glowing mix of orange, apricot, and soft golden tones that shift slightly as the flower opens. What sets it apart is the texture. This is a true fimbriata dahlia, meaning the petals are finely split at the tips. Up close, each petal looks lightly fringed, almost feathered. From a distance, that detail softens the whole bloom and gives it movement. It has the presence of a full decorative dahlia, but with a lighter, more expressive finish. The flowers are medium to large, usually around five to six inches across, and they hold well on strong, upright stems. Plants grow to about three to four feet tall and bloom continuously from mid summer until frost when cut regularly. Like other Fubuki types, it is bred for both garden impact and reliable performance as a cut flower, with sturdy stems and consistent flowering. In the garden, ‘Orange Fubuki’ brings warmth without feeling heavy. It works beautifully in late summer borders alongside reds, yellows, and deeper bronze tones, but it also pairs well with softer colors where it adds contrast and brightness. The fringed petals help break up more structured blooms, giving the planting a more natural, layered look. For cutting, this is a strong performer. The stems are long, the blooms hold their shape, and the color adds depth and warmth to arrangements without overpowering everything else. It is especially useful in mixed bouquets where you want texture as well as color. Plant tubers in spring after the last frost, once the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny location with rich, well-drained soil and give plants enough space to develop. Staking early is recommended to support the stems as they grow. In colder parts of the United States, lift tubers after frost and store them dry over winter. If you want a dahlia that combines bright color with a softer, fringed texture, Dahlia ‘Orange Fubuki’ delivers both, with strong garden performance and excellent cutting quality.
